A Salford husband and wife team have launched their own charity to raise awareness of autism.

A World UK was created to fund autism activities within Salford after the couple found there weren’t any services to cater for their son.

Their son Xavier, now five-years-old, was diagnosed with autism at the age of three, however found no support or activities for aimed for children aged 0-8 with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

His mother Phillipa said: “There is just no support in Salford. You just get your son’s autistic, here’s a support group for you and other parents that’s on once a month.

“I’m a really proactive person so I can’t just attend a group where you meet people. I want to be able to do stuff that will benefit him.”

They wish to fund many activities such as therapeutic horse riding, dance sessions, musical sensory sessions and much more.

His father Adam said: “You’ve got your quiet hours at shopping which is brilliant but for him, he’s not bothered about shopping. We want stuff for him to help him develop.

“We’ve mentioned that we want to do horse therapy and he’s tried it and loved it. The great thing is animals don’t discriminate.”

The charity has an upcoming indoor car boot sale on the 30th of November at Swinton Masonic Hall, where all are welcome to attend and help support the cause. The proceeds raised will go towards funding the autism-friendly activities, with their last event raising over £300.

The parents are in the process of opening their very first charity shop in Eccles shopping centre. The events hosted will help fund their new shop and sellers are welcome to donate any left over items from the car boot sales towards the shop.

Alongside this, they plan on making their shop the first in Eccles to allow mothers to breastfeed freely in collaboration with Salford Boobs.
