Earlier this month Salford Now featured the first audio diaries of a student on the front line fighting Coronavirus.

Ellie MacDonald, is 19 and studying Journalism at the University of Salford. Back at home now in Birmingham, Ellie is a cleaner in A&E at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

One of her key jobs is to deep clean areas of the hospital where patients with Cov-19 patients are treated.

Wearing protective clothing Ellie and her colleagues strip areas in “hot zones”. The work is physically hard and stressful, but this team of domestics are keeping the hospital safe for patients and staff.

Today we bring you Ellie’s latest audio diaries which reveal that today she is to be tested for Covid-19 after her mum and colleague developed symptoms. She also explains how difficult it is to see patients struggling to breathe.
