An Eccles taxi firm has been nominated for the Spirit of Salford Award after being put forward by locals.

Established over four years ago, Taxi Transfers are delighted to be nominated for an award after making a difference during lockdown.

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, The company had taken members of the public showing symptoms of the virus to Salford testing centres along with helping key workers and patients to their destinations, many of whom were ill.

By delivering daily meals to NHS staff and transporting the Covid Home Assessment Nursing teams all over the city, the taxi service has made a change by brightening up lockdown.

All the drivers at Taxi Transfers have been vaccinated to prevent the spread of Covid-19, with some being fortunate enough to get the second vaccine.

Stuart Ryan member of Taxi Transfers expressed his excitement for the award by saying “We at Taxi Transfers are overwhelmed being nominated for an award. We would like to say a big thank you for the people who nominated us and all our drivers. It’s all their hard work we have been put up for this award”.

Permission given by BlackCabs

Salford City Council, partner organisations and volunteers came together to support the city and demonstrating the true Spirit of Salford by creating the award.

The award will be decided between a public vote or a panel of judges depending on the different category. The aim of the award is to give back to the people and public services that have made a difference in Salford during recent difficult times.

The winners of the Spirit of Salford award will be announced on 4 March 2021 at the AJ Bell Stadium, Barton upon Irwell.
