Police are appealing for help to find a man who sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl yesterday in the Lower Broughton area of Salford.
The girl fell victim to a “horrific ordeal” whilst making her way to school when she was sexually assaulted and robbed in Peel Park in broad daylight.
Police said the attack took place between 8.15am and 8.30am and are asking for anyone who has any information on the attack to come forward.
Detective Inspector Chris Horsfield, of GMP’s Swinton CID, said: “This is a deeply concerning incident where a young girl has been randomly approached in broad daylight and subjected the victim to a horrific ordeal by an unknown man clearly with sinister intentions.”
The attacker was said to have struck up a conversation with the girl, before then going on to assault and rob her, taking her mobile phone and running in the direction of Chapel Street in Salford.
The male is said to be between 20 and 30 with short ginger/blonde lightly coloured hair with a cropped fringe, a faint moustache, and is around 6ft tall with a skinny build.
Although the girl sustained no injuries, she is understandably left very shaken from the ordeal. She is currently receiving support from specialist officers and agencies.
The man is believed to have been wearing a plain blue hoodie, with distinctive striped dark blue/black Adidas joggers. He was also said to be wearing white, blue and red running shoes, and a grey Puma backpack.
Greater Manchester Police have increased patrols in and around the area following the attack.
Anyone with any information regarding the assault should contact the police on 0161 856 2079, quoting incident number 746 of 12/05/2021.
Information can also be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers, available on 0800 555 111.
