A large puppet Aslan from the production The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe has been suspended from the Lowry’s main foyer ahead of the shows visit to Salford.

The 40kg puppet is made from aluminium, timber and cane and is covered in fabric and paper, and is one of three versions created for the stage show.

It was used during production’s run at the Bridge Theatre in London in 2019/20, with a newer version created for the current tour which will be visiting the Lowry between Wednesday 8 December and Saturday 15 January 2022.

The show broke box office records at Leeds Playhouse in 2017, and played to packed houses and critical acclaim at the Bridge Theatre.

It now comes to Salford over Christmas with a cast that includes Samatha Womack as the White Which and Ammar Duffis playing Peter Pevensie.

The play wiil be directed by Michael Fentiman and is based on the original production by Sally Cookson.

The puppet is to stay in the Lowry until early 2022.
