After missing out last year, St Pauls Church in Walkden is back with ‘The Christmas Fair and Festival of Trees’, taking place on the 27th November from 11am-3pm at St Paul’s Church.

Event manager, Mrs Barrett, passionately said: “It’s going to be bigger this year… we are certainly looking forward to it.”

Seemingly, there’s a lot to be expected from this year’s Festival of Trees and this isn’t just the “daft jumpers” and “very naughty elves’”. The 2021 Christmas Fair will further see a new set of “probably around thirty trees”.

‘Dancing With Dementia Tree’

Each tree has been delicately decorated to perfection. This includes the ‘Rainbow Tree’, ‘Brownie Tree’ and even the ‘Round the World Tree’.

Certain trees this year have also been dressed up to represent charitable organisations, such as ‘Dancing With Dementia’. There will also be a ‘Tree of Memories’ with heartfelt messages added for people who have lost loved ones.

The fair will offer a range of goods that can be found at the cake stall, tombola stall, chocoholics stall and the mystery gift stall, if you fancy your own secret Santa.

The family event will also include a socially distanced visit from Father Christmas himself, where the children can sit down and create their wish lists.

After not being able to celebrate Christmas in 2020, many communities around Salford have indulged in festivities this year. St Pauls Church is certainly following the Christmas craze in hopes of bringing the Walkden community together.

Mrs Barrett said the fair is “about finding ways of outreach to the community so that they know we’re there for them.”

‘Festival of Trees’

It’s more important than ever this year to try and get some funds behind us because obviously we’ve not been able to do any fundraising for two years.”

Regarding the current Covid situation, Mrs Barrett said: “We’ve had to think very carefully about how we do thing this time.

The refreshments are done in a way where they are handled by the fewest people possible and there is hand sanitiser in the hall.”

Mrs Barrett expressed that she would be “delighted” to see anyone who comes along. If you fancy getting into the Christmas Spirit, maybe you should give it a go!
