SIR Alex Ferguson unveiled Salford City FC’s new stadium, Peninsula Stadium, on Thursday and spoke about the Class of 92’s work ethic when at Manchester United.
The new development at Salford City FC, formerly called Moor Lane, has been changed to the Peninsula Stadium after a new five-year sponsorship deal with the consulting company.
Sir Alex admitted that he thought the Class of 92 were ‘off their heads’ for considering to buy a football club but he could ‘see why they want to give back to an area that has been a big part of their lives’.
The former manager performed a speech at the star studded launch, inspiring the Salford City players by saying that the players he managed ‘never let him down’.

Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs attended the launch and said that the sponsorship deal had a goal ‘to find a company that had local roots who they knew was a great employer in the North West’.
The modernisation of the football club has increased rapidly with a brand new stadium, including hospitality suites.
Salford City FC received two promotions in just three seasons, putting them in their highest ever league position.
The club are currently in second place in the National League North table with just 1 point separating them from the top spot.
The official launch of the stadium will take place on Sunday the 12th of November at the ground as a fixture between the ‘Salford City XI v Class of 92’ & Friends’ will take place.
Tickets will be on general sale between 10am and 5pm this Sunday 29th October.
