New signings for Salford Red Devils means there is lots to look forward to in 2022.

After a disappointing 2021 season, culminating in an 11th place finish, newly appointed head coach Paul Rowley has invested in the transfer market and signed 26-time England international centre, Kallum Watkins, as well as former Salford cult-hero halfback Marc Sneyd.

Other notable signings include Scottish international halfback Ryan Brierley from Leigh Centurions and Australian halfback Brodie Croft from the Brisbane Broncos. This means the Red Devils will go into the 2022 Super League season with a completely new halves pairing after the departures of Tui Lolohea and Dec Patton and Kevin Brown’s retirement.

The appointment of Paul Rowley as head coach is more good news for Red Devils fans. The former Toronto Wolfpack coach brings many good ideas to the role including his “5 in 5” mantra, promising to have five homegrown players in the Salford squad by five years’ time in order to promote sustainability and self-reliance.

After last season’s 11th place finish the Red Devils will be aiming for an improvement in 2022. A top eight finish and the playoffs will be a successful season while a Challenge Cup run could also be on the cards. Fans will be hoping that the team can recreate 2019’s 3rd place finish and Grand Final appearance.
