Protesters are lobbying Salford City Council tomorrow morning to protect Salford’s specialist domestic abuse services.

Victims of domestic abuse in Salford are set to lose services, which have been available for over 40 years, on April 1st.

Salford Women’s Aid has two refuges for survivors and an Independent Advocacy Service, which supports survivors and their families to be free from domestic violence and abuse. However, Salford City Council are now giving the available funding to other providers. As they are an independent organisation, this means that residents will lose the essential services which have been provided.

The protest will take place at 100 Embankment, Cathedral Approach, Salford, M3 7NJ, near Victoria Bridge at 8am.

A petition started with the same goal currently has over 800 signatures. It can be signed here.
