Promising to deliver a ‘Red Carpet Experience’ without the price tag, Wipe Your Tears children’s Charity hopes to raise money for a nominated child to receive vital medical equipment and necessities.

The biannual event, named the Spring Flower Dance, is set to take place on 20th May 2023 at the Village Hotel in Bury.

After being twice postponed due to the pandemic, the event is set to welcome the late Bobby Balls’ sons – The Harper Brothers-, vocalist Kadie-Jo Green, auctions, raffles, and feature a champagne reception and three-course meal.

As encapsulated in its slogan “If you wipe your tears, we will help you smile”, Wipe Your Tears children’s charity works to provide care and necessities to seriously and terminally ill children, victims of domestic abuse, and local struggling families.

Founded and ran by Mother-and-Daughter team Wendy and Gen Hutchins (alongside a group of volunteers and trustees), the Sorrel Bank-based charity self-funds through a variety of methods, including pin badge selling and large events.

Charity owner, Wendy Hutchins said: “The idea for the Spring Flower Dance came through a corporate event we used to hold. As much as it was a wonderful event, I thought, wouldn’t it be wonderful for our everyday people to be made to feel special.

“We want everything a red-carpet event provides, but not at that price.”

The event is open to the general public aged 18 and over. Tickets for the Spring Flower Dance are £50 and payment plans can be arranged after an initial £10 deposit.

The last Spring Flower Dance saw Wipe Your Tears raise enough to fund a sensory room and a £10,000 medical bed.

Hutchins continued: “We keep our charity small, meaning more of our pound and pence goes to the actual cause.

“It just showcases everything we do and the families we help. It’s, by far, our most popular event.

“This charity means the world to us. It gives us an opportunity to showcase what we can do. It draws attention to what we do, and the family’s lives we impact. Its means the absolute world.

The event also depends on sponsorships from local businesses, which receive a page in the brochure and extensive advertisement. Hutchins said: “Without people’s support, we don’t have an event and we are so grateful to people who come and support – even just through a raffle ticket. It’s about giving back to the community and see people enjoying themselves.”

Tickets can be bought directly through the charity on 0843 308 2898. Tickets cannot be purchased through the venue.
