Brodie Croft

Salford half-back Brodie Croft has been awarded the 2022 Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award after a stellar season.

The Australian contributed 25 try assists and seven tries in a campaign which saw Salford finish sixth despite a poor start. He was ever present in the squad, missing just one regular season game. He has also become the second Red Devils player to win the award, after Jackson Hastings in 2019.

Croft beat out St Helens’ Jack Welsby and Jai Field of Wigan Warriors to win the award in his first season at Salford. However, he was left out of the Super League semi-final due to concussion protocols and was sorely missed as they lost to eventual champions St Helens 19-12.

Salford were one of the surprise packages of the season, as they unexpectedly finished in a playoff spot and will be hoping to carry this form into next season. Season highlights include their 74-10 demolition of Wakefield – a new Super League record.

Croft’s fellow standout players included free-scoring winger Ken Sio and summer signing Marc Sneyd. Head coach Paul Rowley was also nominated for Super League Coach of the Year alongside Kristian Woolf and Matt Peet.
