Salford City have signed highly-rated Doncaster Rovers winger Luke Molyneux for an undisclosed fee.
The 28-year-old has agreed a multi-year deal at the Peninsula Stadium, becoming the Ammies’ eighth signing of the summer.
Across the last four seasons in South Yorkshire, Molyneux registered 40 goals and 37 assists in more than 200 appearances for Doncaster and was influential in their 2024-25 League Two title-winning season with 16 goals and 12 assists.
The north-easterner rejected advances from Rovers, who were keen to tie him down to a new deal ahead of their second season back in League One.
Instead, he has been lured away from the third tier by a Salford City hierarchy intent on delivering promotion at the eighth time of asking.
Defeat in last season’s play-off final brought an end to Karl Robinson’s time in charge as the club have backed Australian boss Peter Cklamovski to achieve their best-ever season in his first managerial role in England.
Upon signing for Salford, Molyneux said he is looking forward to playing under his new coach.
“I’m just looking forward to getting started, implementing what the gaffer wants, his style of play is going to be something new and I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
“We’ve got a lot of good players in this squad, a lot of exciting players, and the goal for us is promotion.”
In a message to Salford fans, Molyneux described himself as an “exciting” player who “likes to get the fans off their feet.”
He added: “I try and set up as many goals as possible, score as many goals as I can, and I think that’s important, especially in a team that wants to get promoted and hopefully I can bring plenty to this Club.”
