French international Morgan Escare has left Salford Red Devils ahead of 2023 to return to France.

Escare, 31, was still contracted to the club for the 2023 season. However, the club have released him from his contract early to pursue a ‘new venture in France’.

He has made 20 appearances for Salford since joining from Wigan Warriors in 2021.

The French full-back found his opportunities limited in 2022, appearing just three times for the Red Devils throughout the season, missing the latter stages of the year through injury.

Escare had two loan spells last season, playing for both Wakefield Trinity and Barrow Raiders, playing against his parent club twice for Wakefield.

He was a Catalans junior player and broke into the first team in 2013, going on to play 91 times for the French outfit before joining Wigan in 2017.

Wigan won the Super League Grand Final in 2018 in which Escare came off the bench. It was the first major trophy of his career.

Morgan Escare is the fifth Salford player to leave this off-season with Sam Luckley (Hull KR), Harvey Livett (Huddersfield Giants), Jack Wells & Greg Burke (both Barrow) all leaving the club.
