Salford’s Imperial War Museum North is housing a temporary exhibition showing the devastating impact of the Ukraine war and conflict with Russia.

From October 14th until January 2nd 2023, visitors can see the harsh realities of Russia’s invasion from the perspective of Ukrainian civilians, captured by photo-journalist, Anastasia Taylor-Lind.

‘Ukraine: Photographs from the Frontline’ documents the lives of citizens in Ukraine over an eight-year period, with vivid images depicting the horrors of war and the reality of displacement and conflict.

The 17 image exhibition is split into three sections, with work focussing on the current Russian invasion, the conflict for individuals living in Eastern Ukraine and 2014 protests in the capital, Kiev.

As well as images, the exhibition includes quotes from those photographed and stories from individuals.

On 24th February 2022, Russia launched a devastating invasion on Ukraine, a major escalation to ongoing tensions.

Taylor-Lind, working alongside Ukrainian journalist Alisa Sopova, presents the devastation caused by the war, through images and quotes.
