Salford Red Devils have received a major boost with winger Joe Burgess signing a new three-year deal.

The 28-year-old signed the extension to his contract which will keep him at the club until 2025..

The ex-Wigan Warriors man dubbed “The Rolls Royce” by fans has scored 19 tries in 29 games, most notably bagging 16 in last year’s play-off push.

He has rightly earnt his nickname having scored 110 career tries in the Super League.

On the Red Devil’s website Head Coach Paul Rowley said: “It is fantastic news that Budgie is staying with our group.

“He is an experienced competitor who knows what winning looks and feels like. His fingerprints are on many of our special moments – and the group and I look forward to him being a part of many more.”

In a video, Joe Burgess said: “I’m, buzzing. I’ve enjoyed the past few years. Especially last year, I felt like I got back to my best again.

“Hopefully I kick on and get better and better.”

Director of Rugby and Operations, Ian Blease, was equally as pleased. He said: “I am absolutely thrilled that Joe is the latest player to commit his long-term future to the Red Devils.

“His raw pace and athleticism would be a potent weapon for any team, so I am delighted that we’ve managed to ensure that will be with us for 2023 and beyond!”

This news continues a sequence of good events for the Red Devils after kicking off their Super League season by defeating Leigh 20-10 on Friday.

Tries from Watkins, Ackers, Brierley and four goals from Sneyd permitted Salford to go home with both points and a fantastic start to the season.

Salford Red Devils and Joe Burgess will be hoping to continue their good form against Hull KR on Thursday.
