Salford City travel to second place Stevenage this weekend, as the promotion race intensifies with nine games remaining.

The Ammies won last time out with a dominant performance over Doncaster Rovers, winning 3-1 with goals from Luke Bolton and Stevie Mallan.

Manager Neil Wood will be hoping to continue there form into the weekend, as they look to extend the distance between themselves and eighth-place Mansfield.

The Ammies have recently shown some incredible form at home with six wins from the last eight games in 2023.

But travelling to Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium, it will be no easy task with the Boro only losing one of the last five games.

The two sides are separated by eight points, offering Salford a great opportunity to close the gap in the automatic promotion race.

Neil Wood stated after the win against Doncaster that “we have a great opportunity to play teams in and around us, because we can take some points off of them.”

And there will no doubt being an expectation of goals, with Salford having the second best attack in the league, with 57 goals so far this season.

However, there is a concern for the Ammies, as they will be without captain Ibou Touray.

He will miss this game against Stevenage due to his international call up for The Gambia’s national team.

Touray is a very big miss for Neil Wood’s defence, with the club’s longest serving player starting every game this season.

Fellow promotion chasers Bradford City who are one spot above them play fourth place Carlisle tonight at 19:45.

Stockport County in 5th place face Swindon Town, giving Salford an excellent chance to jump up the table.

With nine games remaining they will be looking to get as many points as they can.
