A huge 41-storey tower which will see residents share amenities and live communally could be built in Salford’s Greengate area.

The development, located on Gorton Street, could see 568 ‘co-living units’ share amenities such as kitchens and workspaces in the building, as well as outdoor space, plant rooms and accessible roof terraces.

Progressive Living North Bridge Ltd submitted the planning application for the build yesterday (Tuesday 29 August).

Co-living is a living model that sees three or more people living in the same dwelling unit, sharing kitchens and workspaces. Generally co-living is a type of intentional community that provides shared housing for people living in cities.

This is the second time the developer has attempted to build in the area, submitting plans for 36-storey co-living tower, and associated hotel in 2021, which was later denied.

The railway arches next to the tower could also be repurposed into social and leisure units under separate plans.
