Salford City’s Elliot Watt has been awarded the League Two Player of the Season for the Northwest football awards.

The award came after a fine season for Salford after moving from fellow League Two side Bradford City.

The 23-year-old played 52 times for Salford and recorded 16 assists in all competitions. An impressive debut season for the Scot led to him being awarded the Armstrong Projects Northwest Winners Award on November 6 this year.

The defensive midfielder was a key part of the Ammies side that finished in 7th last year and has also featured in 11 games so far this season.

The award has seen praise all across social media including X where fans took to demanding a new contract for the much-loved midfielder.

Watt was also nominated for Athletic Rising Star of the Season. He earned a place in the PFA and League Two Teams of the Season; won the Players’ Player of the Season; and the PFA Fans’ Player of the Season.

Overall it was a very successful debut season for Watt as he looks to continue this fine form into the next season.

Two other Salford players were also nominated for awards with Ellen Thornton has been nominated for the Women’s Player of the Season.

Lily Robinson was nominated for The Athletic Women’s Rising Star award after playing every game of last season.
