Comedian Peter Kay is set to be the first-ever act to perform at the new Co-op Live Arena in Manchester this spring.

The comedian who studied comedy at the University of Salford returned in 2021 after a lengthy hiatus.

The new arena is the first of its kind and is set to host acts such as Liam Gallagher this year.

The state-of-the-art arena is eager to have performers underway after construction began in 2020, and stated: “We’re thrilled to announce that the legendary comedian Peter Kay will be opening Co-op Live on 23 April 2024.

“He’s one of the most successful stand-up comedians of all time, having delighted fans across the UK for well over two decades.

“This marks a monumental moment in the city’s cultural history, with Peter Kay headlining the first performance at the UK’s largest live entertainment venue.”

Kay also has an honorary doctorate from Salford University.

Tickets for his show are available on presale on Wednesday February 21 and are on general sale on Friday (23rd).

There is an eight-ticket per person, per household limit during the presale.

Co-op Live is located on the Etihad Campus in East Manchester and you can take multiple different modes of transport to the arena.

The Co-op Live says it is the “UK’s only music-first arena” and boasts “the largest floor space of any indoor venue”.
