Salford City travel to Nottinghamshire this weekend as they face promotion challengers Mansfield Town.

The Stags are just two points behind leaders Stockport County, with a game in hand on The Hatters as the League Two season heads into March.

They welcome a resurgent Salford City to the One Call Stadium, fresh off their 5-3 triumph over Barrow last weekend.

Karl Robinson’s side are now on an eight-match unbeaten run but face arguably the toughest test in a Mansfield team that have only lost at home once this season.

It was a tough result last time for Nigel Clough’s men, who were beaten 2-1 away to Walsall.

A win for The Ammies on Saturday would see them climb as high as 17th, and shrink the gap down to the play-off spots with just one quarter of the League Two remaining.

Mansfield are a fearsome foe in front of goal, scoring the third most goals this season, and are only 10 days out from their 9-2 thrashing of 7th-placed Harrogate Town.

Their top scorer, Davis Keillor-Dunn, is on 17 goals this season, just four behind Matt Smith. The Ammies forward is second place in the League Two Golden Boot race, just behind Notts County’s Macaulay Langstaff.

The reverse fixture at the Peninsula Stadium saw The Stags claim a 2-1 victory, With both Smith and Keillor-Dunn on the scoresheet, joined by Jordan Bowery. Salford’s last trip to Mansfield was a joyous one, with a 5-2 win for Neil Wood’s team 364 days ago.

Salford City play Mansfield Town on Saturday, February 24, with kick-off at the One Call Stadium at 15:00.
