The Star Inn pub in Salford has paid tribute to the Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers after news of his death aged 66.
His co-star and best pal, Si King, shared the news of the TV chef’s death.
Myers had been battling cancer for the past two years but did not specify which type of cancer he was diagnosed with.
He is fondly remembered at the Star Inn which featured in one of the duo’s programmes.
Pub manager, Dave, 56, said: “We want to express our deepest condolences from the Star Inn.”
Myers and King visited the pub for their TV show ‘The Hairy Bikers’ Pubs That Built Britain’ which aired in 2016.
The programme featured a northern ‘pub crawl’ which aimed to uncover historic boozers once at the heart of the city’s industrial revolution.
The pub on The Cliff in Higher Broughton was picked by TV producers for the third episode and featured in a five-minute segment.
The Star itself dates all the way back to the 1850s and later became one of the first community co-operative pubs in Britain when 67 locals bought-in to rescue it in a 2009 takeover.
Sharing the news of Myers’ death, Si King took to social media with a statement: “Hi everyone, I’m afraid I bear some sad news.
“Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. Last night, on February 28 2024, with Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home.
“Personally, I am not sure I can put into words how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime.
“I wish you god’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.”
