Jorge Grant

Salford City have announced the signing of former Nottingham Forest and Hearts midfielder Jorge Grant on a two-year deal.

The 30-year-old will arrive at the Peninsula Stadium after three seasons playing in the Scottish Premiership with Hearts of Midlothian, with the focus on promotion.

Grant began his journey in football career at Nottingham Forest and will be remember for scoring on his debut against Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup when he was 19 years old.

Following his debut goal at White Hart Lane, he went on loan at near neighbours Notts County, where Grant had a major impact for the Magpies, helping them secure a League Two play-off finish in 2018.

During that season he scored an impressive 15 league goals from midfield, and being named in the PFA Team of the Year for League Two that season.

Grant will be joining the club with experience in the Championship and League Two but also had a spell in League One with Luton Town when the Hatters went on to win the division in 2019.

He also played for Lincoln City, where the midfielder’s 13 league goals helped Lincoln make the play-offs in 2021, and ensured that he was recognised once again by the PFA by being included in their League One Team of the Year for that season.

His talents and experience of fighting for promotion will be crucial for Salford as they aim to climb the footballing pyramid.

But after his experience in England, Grant moved to Hearts in 2022 and went on to make over one hundred appearances for the Edinburgh club across his three seasons at Tynecastle.

His time in Scotland, Jorge Grant also played in numerous appearances in European competition – something that will hope to also elevate the club for seasons to come.

Following his arrival at the Ammies, he will aim to be another great addition to the club and has already set his sights on promotion.

As he said: “I am really happy, this has been in the pipeline for the last few weeks, so I am just delighted to be here now.

“I got to meet the lads yesterday, and I just want to crack on now and get into the games.

He continued: “My target is promotion, I feel like the team obviously missed out on that last year on the last day, so it is important that there is no hangover from that.

“We look forward, looking to the future, and we push on to make sure that we go one better this year, and look to go up.

“I am really excited to meet all the fans, this is the first time that I have been here as I have never played here before, it is a really nice stadium, so I am really looking forward to it,” he added.
