Salford Red Devils

Salford Red Devils will travel to Leeds, as they look to continue their winning form after picking up their second victory of the season.

The Red Devils will face off against Leeds Rhinos on Friday 18 July, and they will battle it out as they look to maintain their current form.

The Red Devils walked away with a 26-22 victory with a 10-point haul from Chris Hankinson making the difference.

Despite their ongoing financial crisis, second half tries from Hankinson – who also kicked three conversions – and Esan Marsters saw them pull away for a richly deserved win.

However, as they approach their third meeting of the league season – the Red Devils will have to apprehensive as they have been beaten on both occasions.

Salford Red Devils hosted Leeds in March losing 6-32, and saw the team beaten 0-28 in April.

However, they will be facing a team that will be looking to be in the conversation for walking out at Old Trafford on October 11.

But with a win under their belt, it could be a change in direction for the Red Devils as they continue to push to get off the bottom of the league.

Salford supporters will also be hoping to get a win, to lift the club’s spirit after a week of off-field issues including a visit from the RFL – following reports of a potential player strike.

Nonetheless, with Red Devils players having their second win under their belt, they will be looking to avoid another defeat.

However, ahead of the fixture Rowley was also full of praise of his opponents, reminding his team that it isn’t going to be an easy fixture.

He said: “Well, Leeds this year is incredibly tough. I think Brad’s (Arthur) done a fantastic job with them, and in my opinion, I’ve said it after the Cas game, I think when Leeds are on, they’re as good as anything in Super League.”

He continued: “If I were a betting man, I’d be having 10p on Leeds having a crack at the Grand Final. I think they’re a great team, they’ve got great balance, and a team of athletes as well.

“I think the addition of Kallum (Watkins) in particular, whilst it was a big loss to us, has obviously been a big gain to Leeds and I think he’s added some stardust to an already very good team.”

The game will kick off on Friday 18 July at 8pm, at Headingley Stadium – and fans will be hoping to continue their winning momentum.
