Salford City return to league action this weekend as they face off against Crewe Alexandra this weekend after an unbeaten preseason.

The opening game of the season will see the Ammies contest against Crewe, with both sides hoping to get off to a winning start.

Karl Robinsons’ side will kick off at 3pm this Saturday (2 August) with home start after an impressive preseason – going unbeaten.

In the 90 days since the Ammies last played in the Sky Bet League Two, the club have seen a lot of changes.

With new ownership, and new players coming in, as well as the 17 departures from the club – it seems that Salford have made the right preparations as they start the 2025-26 season.

Salford City have signed multiple players including forward Jay Bird, winger Kadeem Harris, midfielders Kallum Cesay, Jorge Grant, defenders Adebolo Oluwo, Loick Ayina, and goalkeeper Mark Howard – as well as the return of Matty Young on loan.

A strengthened squad, the Ammies will be hoping to secure promotion to the League One after falling short last season – drawing with Carlisle United 2-2, which saw them miss out on the playoffs on the final.

But after an unbeaten pre-season – they will be looking to push themselves up the footballing pyramid once again.

And head coach Karl Robinson will be hoping for an improvement from his side this season, with the two teams previously drawing 1-1 on both meetings.

However, with the reinforcement to the Salford squad – there will be a lot of optimism amongst the team, and hopefully an avoidance of another stalemate.

As for Crewe they were last in League One in 2021-22, and the team are preparing for their fourth straight season in League Two, finishing 13th last term after losing in the 2023-24 playoff final.

But nonetheless, they will be hoping to get off to a winning start against a Salford City side that is raring to go this Saturday at 3pm.
