Access to Agecroft Cemetery remains open but Langley Road South is “likely to be shut for 7 to 10 days” whilst repairs are being made to a water leak in Salford.
Urgent repairs are taking place on Langley Road, in Salford, with the road following a burst that began on Monday (August 18).
The South Langley Road remains closed during this time in both directions today (Tuesday 19 August), whilst United Utilities continue to make the area safe with repairs.
The water company shared in a statement on the website at 5.29am today, that the repair work is more complex than first thought, and that the team are doing “all they can and will have things back to normal as soon as possible.”
A further update was provided by United Utilities today (Tuesday 19 August) at 12.21pm, and said they are working with Salford City Council during this time.
They said: “Our teams remain in your area working hard to repair the burst on Langley Road. We are continuing to work closely with the local authorities and other utilities to safely fix the burst.
“All customers have water however your water pressure may be lower than you are used too.”
They continued: “We know that some customers are experiencing discolouration to their supply.
“We know it doesn’t look nice but don’t worry, it’s unlikely to be harmful and will settle down again with time. You can help by letting your cold-water tap run at a slight trickle until your water runs clear again.”
Whilst repairs are being made, Salford City Council said: “Due to a water leak, Langley Road South is closed. Partners at United Utilities are dealing and diversions are in place.”
They also shared that Agecroft Cemetery remains open and services provided as normal, and that “access is through the normal entrance on Langley Road – but not via the Agecroft Road way.”
Adding: “We are sorry for any inconvenience and will give further updates as this progresses.”
