Salford City Head Coach Karl Robinson praises his side but shared he wants more from his team after their third consecutive league win.
The Ammies were able to continue their unbeaten run away from home, extending it to nine games without a defeat on the road.
However, the Salford head coach was happy to pick up the points but was suggesting that his side will need to improve if they want to be promoted.
He said: “That performance is not going to be good enough to get us where we want to get to. Let’s make that clear.
“The result, and when you don’t play well and you win 1-0, it’s a wonderful feeling. So, it’s almost like a double-edged sword that you sort of carry when you’re critiquing your team.”
Both sides had chances throughout the fixture, but Salford were able to walk away with their first clean sheet of the season, as well as another secured three points.
And the Ammies were able to separate themselves from Newport County, thanks to a goal from Ade Oluwo, with an outstanding display of quick reactions was able to flick the ball into the back of the net to seal the 1-0 win.
Karl Robinson continued: “Ade’s probably one of the best centre backs I think I’ve signed in relation to the level he’s come from and adapted, really quickly.
“The mistakes he makes are transparent and honest. What a wonderful way to be. If you make them types of mistakes, we can rectify them.
“And his heart, he’s a lion. He really is. He’s got a grit and determination that I love.”
The Ammies will be hoping to take that grit and determination into their next fixture, when they travel away to Walsall, where they will be hoping to extend their nine-game unbeaten away run.
