A man from Salford has been recognised for his outstanding commitment to remembering those who served in the British armed forces.
Graham Walker, the Chairman of Eccles Remembrance Event Group, has been commended by the Secretary of State for Defence for his tireless work organising local Remembrance events and supporting veterans.
Following a nomination by Michael Wheeler, MP for Worsley and Eccles, Graham received a Letter from the Rt Hon John Healey MP.
Graham Walker, who has led remembrance events in Eccles for many years, said it was “really heart-warming” to receive the recognition.
He added: “Remembrance, for me, is about ensuring those who served, and those we’ve lost, are never forgotten.
“I’m grateful to everyone in Eccles and the surrounding communities who continue to share the importance of preserving the memory of our servicemen and women together with their families and loved ones, past and present.
“I look forward to continuing to help make Remembrance something our communities can be proud of in the years ahead.”
The recognition from the Secretary of State highlights the vital role local volunteers play in keeping the spirit of Remembrance alive and supporting veterans across the UK.
