A homeless Salford woman has received a £2,500 payout after complaining that her belongings were ‘lost and damaged’ in storage.
Salford Council had arranged to store the woman’s belongings while she was homeless, according to a report to the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO).
The complainant, who was referred to as Ms X in the report, said that some items were damaged or lost during this time.
Salford Council denied any liability but paid the woman, who remains anonymous, £2,500 for the ‘stress and inconvenience’ as well as to compensate for some delayed responses to her complaint.
She accepted this offer and the issue has now been resolved. The situation is not being investigated further.
