Prop Jamie Pye has become the latest player to leave struggling Salford Red Devils, having completed a move to Rochdale Hornets.
Pye signed a one-year contract with Salford in July 2024 and went on to join Barrow Raiders on a season-long loan in January 2025.
“Salford Red Devils can confirm the immediate departure of Jamie Pye,” the club stated. “Everyone at the club would like to thank Jamie for his contributions during his time at Salford Red Devils, and wish him every success as he begins the next chapter of his career.
Fans have expressed their disappointment following the announcement: “Gutted you’re leaving Salford Red Devils, but thank you for playing for us and good luck at your new club and for the future Jamie!” X user @ShawHev23 said.
The announcement comes after a spell of player departures in recent weeks, following financial turmoil within the club. Nene Macdonald, Charlie Glover and Kallum Watkins are among 16 senior players who have left the club this year.
Despite requiring a 17-man squad to compete in the Championship next season, Salford Red Devils have just five players on their books.
The sudden exodus of players, many of whom came through the Salford Red Devils academy to feature in the Super League, has played out amid a backdrop of financial turmoil and with a HMRC row hanging over the new owners who took control of the club in February 2025.
The club are set for a hearing at the High Court in London tomorrow (November 12th), following a two-week adjournment – the third adjournment of the saga.
