Swinton Lions are inviting supporters to a kit launch event ahead of the 2026 rugby league season.

Swinton Lions, which formed in 1866, are braced to enter a new era next season with a special event at Swinton’s Grand Palais on December 8.

Head coaches, captains and directors will offer exclusive insights about what’s in store for the Swinton Lions for the 2026 season.

In November, the club’s women’s team rebranded to Manchester Swinton Lionesses to embrace the club’s connection with “one of the world’s great sporting cities.”

Swinton Lions could face Salford Red Devils in an expanded 21-team Championship next week if the struggling club resolve a winding-up petition against them at the High Court on December 3.

If Swinton are to face their Salford rivals next season, they will do so wearing a new strip.

Kit supplier Impact Rugby took over from Patrick between 2024 and 2025 and new suppliers often mean different fabrics, styles and design capabilities.

In 2019, the Swinton Lions sported a stripy navy and royal blue jersey. This was a blend of their classic design, featuring a navy blue jersey and the improved design they began wearing in the 1960s, which was the royal blue jersey.

This then changed quite significantly in 2021 when the kit changed from blue stripes to a blue shirt with a white cross in the front of it, where they again revisited a design that they had worn back in the ’60s.

In 2019, the Swinton Lions won 16 of their 27 games, whereas in 2021 the team only won two of 19. In 2024 the team won nine games out of 26 while in 2025 they won 12 of 18.

The kit launch event takes place on December 8 at The Grand Palais, Swinton, at 7pm.
