As the festive season draws near, we compiled your must-see guide of all the best Christmas events in Salford.
There’s something for everyone in every corner in Salford, from craft markets to breakfast with Santa, to Christmas quizzes and fundraising fairs.
WEASTE
Weaste & Seedley Social Club are turning up the festive fun as they are set to entertain with “outrageous laughs, fabulous prizes, and plenty of festive sass,” all while raising money for families of children with Down’s Syndrome.
There will be live music with Dee Dee and bingo with Weaste pride’s drag performer Tina Tuna.

Ian Carberry, who is hosting the event, said: “You can expect a proper festive night out with plenty of laughs and a full-on camp Christmas vibe.
“It’s going to be one of those nights where you just enjoy yourself from start to finish.”
The event is raising money for A Little Extra, a peer support group for families of children with Down’s Syndrome in Broughton.
Peter McArthur, who set up A Little Extra for his daughter Eden with his wife Lauren Stone in 2023, said: “We wanted her to mix with other children, and also for us to speak to other parents and share lived experiences.
“We’re really grateful to the Weaste and Seedley Social Club.”
Peter said that the group “don’t receive any funding,” with all proceeds being raised from events such as the Christmas fundraiser.
The “camp, Christmassy, and completely unmissable” event, with prizes such as a signed Manchester United football, booze hampers and more, will be held on Saturday 13 December at 6pm.
IRLAM
Friends of Irlam Station (FIRST) are back for their annual Christmas market, with a special guest appearance.

David Ollerenshaw, the chairman of FIRST, said he is “very excited” for the market.
He said: “We have fifteen stalls, from cakes to candles to cosmetics.
“FIRST run their own tombola stall too.”
With mulled wine and mince pies, tombola and even Santa arriving by train at 1pm, there is something for all the family at the station.
David said: “Santa comes on the train and meets the children off the platform.
“We have a grotto in the station, children can meet Santa and receive a gift.”
The free gifts are made possible by FIRST’s year round fundraising.
Peter said: “We raise funds during the year, so that every child gets a free gift.”

The station is “a mass” of decorations, as they bought a brand new Christmas tree especially for this year.
Peter said: ” It’s lovely to see the children when they see Santa get off the train.
“All the staff dress up as elves too!”
The market will be held on Saturday 6 December from 11am – 4pm at Irlam Station.
The Christmas Fayre at St John the Baptist Church is also in Irlam this festive period.
The market offers “Christmas bargains, various stalls including homemade cakes , bric-a-brac , books, tombola, and raffle.”

THE CHURCH SAID:
There will also be tea and coffee available, along with a toasted teacake or a slice of toast.
The Fayre will take place on Saturday 29 November from 10am – 12pm.
PENDLEBURY
For the ultimate festive breakfast, the Golden Lion in Swinton is offering breakfast with Santa.
The Golden Lion, which is described as “a friendly and welcoming food house on the Swinton and Clifton border,” will be hosting Father Christmas from 12 – 4pm.
For £12 per child, guests will receive a kids breakfast, gifts from Santa, and can expect a DJ and entertainment.
Breakfast with Santa will be held on Saturday 13 December and Saturday 20th December.
SWINTON
The Festive Market in Swinton is perfect for those looking for an indoor seasonal event.
Heather Fletcher, the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, will be attending, with proceeds in aid of the Ceremonial Mayor’s Charities.

Her three nominated charities for the year are Salford Loaves and Fishes, Critchley House and L’Chaim Foodbank.
When she took office in May, Heather said about the causes: “I have chosen three special charities that are very close to my heart.
“I will do my best to fundraise for them as well as increase the awareness of the vital work they do right in the heart of our community here in Salford.”
Joy Kershaw, the manager at Critchley House, said: “We will be providing cakes for a cake stall on Saturday, and myself and three volunteers will be manning the stall.”
The Festive Market will be held on Saturday 29 November from 12 – 4pm, at the Salford Civic Centre in Swinton.
For those looking for a festive hands on activity, a Christmas Wreathmaking Workshop will be held at the Immanuel Church Maidstone this Friday (28 November).
Everything is provided for £20, and all attendees need to bring is a pair of scissors and some brown or green string.
There will also be a short personal reflection from a member of Immanuel during the course of the evening.
The wreathmaking will be held from 7 – 9:30pm, and attendees can email main.vic27@gmail.com to book their place.

For an interactive and competitive event, head to the Moorside Farm Swinton for a Christmas quiz.
There is “plenty of alcohol to be won,” alongside other prizes.
Thomas Maner, the manager at Moorside Farm, said: “It’s our first year in the pub, we took over in April.
“We’re just trying to get a few Christmas events going, to try and build the hype a little bit.”
The team are “absolutely” excited to bring the Salford community together.
The quiz will be held on the Wednesday 10 December on Moorside Road, Swinton at 7pm.
Wanting to feel cosy before the big day? Moorside Farm Swinton are also holding a Christmas Eve movie night for all the family, with pyjamas encouraged.
With a big inflatable screen, comfy bean bags, and popcorn and hot chocolate “ready to go,” get ready to settle down for a cosy movie watch-along.
CLAREMONT
The Lightoaks Christmas Cracker returns for another year at Lightoaks Park.

Guests can expect mulled wine, hot chocolate, Christmas music and “maybe even a chance to meet the man himself.”
Friends of Lightoaks Park will be collecting festive donations for local food banks.
The Friends of Lightoaks Park Facebook page said: “Please consider putting a few every items in your trolly between now and then for our festive food bank collection.
It is always massively appreciated, but even more so at this time of year.”
The Christmas Cracker will be held on Sunday 7 December at 3 – 5pm, in the Lightoaks Park in Claremont.
BROUGHTON
The annual ‘famous’ Christmas Party at Broughton Rugby Union Football Club is back.

For £5 per child, guests can enjoy a DJ and a gift from Santa, along with lots more.
Gordon McEwan from BCRUFC said that it will be “the time of their lives.”
“It’s just something we do for the community kids,” he said.
“All the money goes back into the function, so no profits are made.”
The party will be held from 2 – 6pm at the Broughton CRUFC Club House on Yew Street, Broughton.

BOOTHSTOWN

Makants Greyhound Rescue, an independent greyhound rescue based in Tyldesley, is hosting a Christmas fair, with all proceeds going to support the rescue’s services.
There will be several traditional stalls with gifts, a tombola, hand made crafts. There are also dog treats and dog coats for those shopping for Christmas gifts for their pet.
The fair will be held from 11am – 2:30pm at Boothstown Royal British Legion.
For a quirky festive activity, the Boothstown Village Hall will be hosting a Christmas Vintage Tea Rooms event.
With hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and cakes and a selection of festive stalls, the Village Hall are “delighted” to announce that there will be a “special visitor.”
ROE GREEN
A Christmas Santa Float will be parading through Roe Green on Thursday 11 December.

The annual float has made it’s return, supported by Recreate-U and Worsley Rotary.
There will also be festive drinks and snacks following the parade.
The float will also be collecting donations for Recreate-U, which is a Salford based non-profit which “provides education & wellbeing programmes to children families, schools & the community.”
The float’s full route can be found here, with areas like Worsley, Monton, Boothstown and Eccles being amongst the locations.
Guests can meet at 5:30 PM at Beesley Green Community Centre and “stroll” through Roe Green alongside the float.
MONTON
Monton Social Club invites guests to “dance, sparkle and celebrate” at their Children’s Christmas Disco.
Children can look forward to festive tunes, twinkling lights, and “a special visit from Santa himself!”
The “festive get-together to toast the season” will be held on Wednesday 24 December at 1pm.
ECCLES
Get ready to dance the night away at Elm-Bank’s Christmas Party.

Guests can expect a night full of dancing and sing along, with a DJ playing the Christmas hits.
A ticket is £16.49 and includes one glass of prosecco, turkey, stuffing & cranberry sauce served with roast potatoes & gravy.
The event will begin at Friday 5 December at 7pm at 46 Half Edge Lane, Eccles.
