Salford police seized £14,000 in cash and uncovered a cannabis farm in Irlam as part of major operation targeting drug importation.

A man who evaded arrest for more than two years has been caught by Salford police officers.

Aaron Travers, 21, was arrested by officers from the Salford Intelligence Unit and the Salford Challenger Unit inside a block of flats in Trafford on Tuesday 23 December.

Travers had been wanted since October 2023 after he failed to appear at Bolton Crown Court in relation to drug supply offences on 24 October 2023.

He was also wanted for breaching a court order on 13 October 2023 because he failed to comply with its conditions.

He has appeared at Bolton Crown Court and has been remanded to HM Prison Altcourse, a Category B men’s private prison and Young Offender Institution in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool in Merseyside.

Detective Sergeant Gareth Bannister hailed Travers’ capture by Salford police.

He said: “This arrest demonstrates our continued commitment to pursuing individuals who believe they can evade justice.

“Our officers have worked with determination and persistence over an extended period to ensure this individual was located and brought into custody.

“We will continue to use all available resources and intelligence to track down those who attempt to avoid the courts, and we remain steadfast in our dedication to protecting the public.

“Our teams will continue to work tirelessly to locate wanted offenders, disrupt criminal activity, and keep our communities safe.”
