Swinton Lions are set to unveil plans to bring the club back to its home town after 34 years away.

Lions’ supporters will be able to get a first glimpse at designs, models and plans for a new Swinton-based stadium, known as ‘The Den,’ at an evening with club officials on 26 January at 7pm.

They have been invited to attend an event at the Swinton Palais, where the architect who created illustrations showing how the new stadium could look will walk fans through his idea.

In December, Jason Harborow, Swinton Lions’ Strategic Advisor and Non-Executive Director, said the club were committed to returning to Swinton after years in exile.

He said: “Project Den is about securing the long-term future of our club.

“It is our commitment to deliver a permanent home that the club, our supporters, players, and community can truly call their own — a place that reflects our history, supports our ambitions, and allows us to grow, compete, and serve our community for generations to come.”

Harborow thanked supporters who had taken time to contact politicians and city leaders in support of Project Den.

“Your passion, your voices, and your willingness to stand up for the club have been powerful and genuinely appreciated,” he said.

“The past year has been difficult. We have experienced a prolonged and, at times, frustrating period of consultation with city leadership and political stakeholders.

“Progress has not come as quickly as we would have hoped, and we know this has tested the patience of our supporters. What has not changed, however, is our determination.

“We remain absolutely committed to securing a permanent home and to doing what is right for the long-term sustainability and success of the club.

“Our focus now is on making meaningful progress in 2026, and we will continue to work constructively and relentlessly to move Project Den forward.”

Swinton Lions will begin their 2026 Championship campaign against Rochdale Hornets from their current home ground, Heywood Road in Sale.

Supporters will be hopeful that the upcoming stadium teaser means plans long-awaited for The Den have been set in motion.
