Morrissey returns to the Salford Lads and Girls Club with a series of listening parties for his brand new album.
The artist is set to launch his new studio album called ‘Make-Up Is A Lie’ on March 6th of this year, marking the end of a six-year hiatus since his last album.
In celebration of his new album, many listening parties are set to take place. One of these parties is set to take place at Salford Lads and Girls Club.
The Smiths have a long history with the Salford Lads and Girls Club. The club gained recognition when Morrissey, Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce of the Smiths were photographed under the venue’s iconic terracotta arches for the inner sleeve of the group’s The Queen Is Dead album.
Salford Lads and Girls Club said: “On Sunday 1st March, we’ll be hosting an official listening party for the brand new Morrissey album, Make-Up Is A Lie.
“Morrissey is back with his first album in five years and a return to the Sire Records label. What better venue to hear the album five days before release than in the setting of Salford Lads and Girls Club?”
The listening event is set to take place from 4pm to 6pm at the club on March 1st. This provides fans with an early listen to the artist’s new album.
In an exclusive interview with Fiona Dodwell, the singer unveiled some details about his new album.
He detailed the album recording process, with the original version being scrapped. “The album was re-recorded in France in late 2023, and given a new title.
“We scrapped half of the tracks and we recorded six new ones, and so it is not the album from the beginning of 2023.”
While the singer has recently been making headlines for controversial political views and cancelling his shows, his fans still have a source of new music to listen to.
Additionally, Morrissey has recently helped the Salford Lads and Girls Club with a donation.
In November of 2024 the club was facing closure and needed £250,000 to keep its doors open. Morrissey himself gave the club £50,000 – a full circle moment for him and the club.
