Police have launched an appeal for information after a woman was robbed in a ‘targeted attack’ at a Salford bus stop.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said a man stole a purse belonging to a woman, in her 70s, waiting for a bus to arrive on Worsley Road North, near the junction with Grosvenor Road in Walkden.
Police added that the suspect noticed the victim and the bags she had placed behind her on the bus stop seat when passing by, and returned a short time later to carry out what officers believe was a premeditated robbery.
They have released images of the suspect and have asked anyone with information to get in touch with the force.
The perpetrator appeared to notice the woman and the bags she had placed behind her on the bus stop seat, when passing through the area. A short time later, the man returned to carry out what officers believe was a “targeted attack.”
Police added that the suspect approached the victim from behind the bus stop, out of her line of sight and attempted to steal her handbag.

The victim turned around and held onto the bag, but he managed to reach inside and grab her purse before fleeing down Alexandra Road.
Described as mustard-coloured and made of leather, the purse contained bank cards, loyalty cards, cash, and a silver good luck charm of sentimental value.
Police say the woman injured her back as a result of the attack and have given their thanks to witnesses who stopped their victims immediately after the incident, helping to ensure her safety.
A GMP spokesperson said: “We would like to return the purse to its owner – it is described as mustard-coloured, made of leather and contained bank cards, loyalty cards, cash, and a silver good luck charm of sentimental value.
We would like to express our gratitude to the witnesses who stopped their vans to assist the victim immediately after the incident, providing support and helping ensure her safety.
Officers have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

People with information about the incident have been asked to contact the force on 10, quoting log 2156 of 30/12/2025 or crime reference CRI/06FF/0034368/25.
Information can also be shared using our ‘report’ tool or LiveChat function on the GMP website.
