Runners from across Salford and beyond are gearing up for the return of the annual Media City half-marathon this weekend.
Hundreds of runners are set to cross the start line on Sunday, 15 February, making their way through MediaCity, Salford Quays and Eccles in support of the local mental health charity, Mind in Salford.
Following the same 21.1km route and distance as last year, the half-marathon will start at Piazza Stan Ogden, Media City. The race starts at 09:00 and the estimated finish time is around 12:30. But the participants are asked to meet between 07:30 and 08:30 at the registration desk.
The event supports Mind in Salford, so you can help support vital mental health services across our community by taking part. Charity runners usually get extra support, like a free charity T-shirt and fundraising toolkit, while raising money for local causes.
It is also a fun event, including unique themed medals, free official race photos, chip-timed results and post-race goodies and event support. It consists of two scenic laps with waterside views around Salford and Eccles, including routes alongside Salford Quays and through Media City.
You can find the course map on the Media City Half Marathon website, at Run Media City Course Maps – 5k & 10k route maps.
For safety reasons, road closures will be taking place at 08:30. This includes:
Broadway, Coronet Way, Centenary Way, Gilda Brook Road, Bentcliffe Way, Barton Lane, Moorings Road, Trafford Park Road. Churchill Way, Trafford Wharf Road.
Roads will reopen for pedestrians as the last runners leave them during the two laps, but vehicles will be restricted until midday.
Additionally, access to the Media City multistorey car park closes by 08:30 due to the closures, so arrive before 8am if you are driving.
“The multistorey car parks nearest to the venue will be extremely busy and will have delays on arrival and leaving,” organisers Run Through said. So it is recommended to park away from Media City and walk to the venue.
Conveniently, there are plenty of places which to park vehicles nearby, including the Lowry Outlet Store multi-story car park, which is a 10-minute walk away.
If you have not had a chance to sign up yet, it’s not too late. Last-minute entries are still available via Media City Half Marathon | 15th February 2026.
