Planning permission has been submitted to Salford City Council to demolish the former Buzz Bingo Hall on Hankinson Way and turn it into a Lidl Superstore.

If the plans are approved by Salford Council, the new store would add to the collection of Lidl’s in Salford, as the most recent store built opened on Cromwell Road in 2025.

The Bingo Hall was closed in 2020 due to the impacts Covid-19 had on the business and it has sat dormant since.

According to Place North West, the new site is due to replace the store on Fitzwarren Street.

There were previous plans for the site to be sold for the construction of 268 new homes. However, these plans have since been abandoned.

The application for the new Lidl was submitted to Salford City Council on September 9 2026.  A diagram of what the site should like post-demolition was then sent to the Council on October 2 2026. If the plans are accepted then the developers hope to start the demolition of the former Buzz Bingo Hall in November 2026.

Signs have gone up outside the site informing local residents about the submitted plans along with information for residents to submit their comments.
