TONIGHT Atherton Laburnum Rovers host AFC Blackpool at Crilly Park in a six-point game in the Hallmark Security League Division One.
In the game at Crilly Park tonight, Atherton Laburnum Rovers FC will have the chance to earn six points, which will potentially bring them two places higher in Division One of the Hallmark Security League, and above AFC Blackpool.

Chairperson for Atherton Laburnum Rovers, Jane Wilcock, said: “It is an important game. We need to win tonight to come above Blackpool.”
Kick off will commence at 19:45 at Crilly Park, Spa Road in Atherton, when Atherton Laburnum Rovers will compete in their first of three games this month.
Ms Wilcock said: “I think the team are very upbeat about tonight’s game. We’ve not played a mid-weeker for a while. I think we’ve put the strongest squad out tonight.”
Later in the month, they will play against Litherland REMYCA, who are currently first in the league, and Stockport Town, with Atherton Laburnum Rovers playing at home on both occasions.
Atherton Laburnum Rovers are currently in 20th place in the first division of the Hallmark Security League, only one place behind tonight’s opponents AFC Blackpool.
Ms Wilcock said: “It’s been all about building up a team this year. We would have liked to finish in a mid-league position, but hopefully we can progress next season.”
Founded in 1956 by Joe Riley, Atherton Laburnum Rovers have a very loyal and local fanbase and are still based within Hag Fold, a council estate within the area.
The team’s biggest home win was against St Helens Town in September last year, where they won 4-2, and their biggest away win was against Chadderton last October, who they beat with a score of 5-3.
Atherton Laburnum Rovers are one of the two teams based in the town of Atherton, along with Atherton Collieries AFC, Atherton Collieries will compete against Maine Road FC, at the Chorlton-Cum-Hardy based Brantingham Road Football Ground, on 18th March.
Crilly Park, Atherton Laburnum Rovers’ home, has a capacity of 3,000 people, of which 250 are seated.
The ground is located with good transport links from both the M61 and the A580, only a seven-minute walk from Atherton Train Station, and a 12-minute walk from Hag Fold Train Station.
Places will still be available to watch Atherton Laburnum Rovers’ game tonight against AFC Blackpool, and pies come at the cost of £5 each.
