No play was possible on day one of Lancashire’s Specsavers County Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Emirates Old Trafford.

Following persistent overnight rain and further rain again this morning, the outfield was deemed too wet by umpires Graham Lloyd and Neil Mallender.

There had been no rain since lunchtime and the covers were partially removed for a time before play was officially abandoned for the day at 2.35pm, after the 2.30pm inspection.

It is the first time since 26 April 2000 that Lancashire have been involved in a match when the first day of the season has been washed out. That match was played at Canterbury against Kent. The last time it happened at Old Trafford was exactly 19 years ago to the day against Sussex.

104 overs are to be bowled tomorrow and play will commence at 11am.

You can follow the match on Quays News as we will bring you daily reports following the close of each days play.
