Salford Red Devils are set to face Swinton Lions in a friendly on the 5th of January 2020.

The pre-season friendly between these two sides is becoming an annual event, as the sides have faced of against each other the previous two years.

Here is a look at how the previous meetings have gone:

2018 – 14th January

Salford Red Devils 50-12 Swinton Lions

The Red Devils began their pre-season with a comfortable win over the Lions.

Tries from Derrell Olpherts (x2) and scores also coming from Greg Johnson, Kris Welham, Gareth O’Brien, Tyron McCarthy, Niall Evalds made sure that the Red Devils kicked off their pre-season in style.

Hayden Hansen did score his first try for the Lions however it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.

2019 – 12th January

Salford Red Devils 52-6 Swinton Lions

For a second year in a row the Red Devils hosted Swinton Lions at the AJ Bell Stadium and for the second year in a row it was a comfortable win for the Red Devils.

Tries from Niall Evalds, Joey Lussick and Ed Chamberlain helped Salford to a convincing 50-12.

2020 – 5th January (1PM KO)

The AJ Bell stadium will play host to the Red Devils first game since their appearance in the 2019 Rugby League Grand final at Old Trafford.
