Councillor Brendan Keville has pushed an initiative across social media this week inviting local residents to join any of six different litter picks across Ordsall that are taking place between Saturday 14th March and Sunday 29th March.
The campaign, named ‘Spring clean Ordsall’, is working in partnership with Friends of Ordsall Park, Love Your Planet Salford and Salford City Council. Residents, families and local organisations are encouraged to get involved. Equipment such as litter-pickers and disposal bags will be provided.

Keville, who also chairs Friends of Ordsall Park charity, said: “Community litter picking really does make a difference.
“Around a year ago we were picking up between 12 and 14 bags of litter during a single clean-up inside Ordsall Park. Thanks to the dedication of local volunteers, we’re now usually collecting a couple of bags which lets us focus on areas outside of the park.
“This shows the impact people can have when they take pride in their local area.”

The first litter pick takes place on Saturday 14th Marcheat 11:00 am, meeting by the bowling green at Ordsall Park.
The second meeting point is Islington Park on Sunday 15th March at 11:00 am.
The third takes place on Friday 20th March at 12:00pm, meeting at the play area on Howard Street (M54SA)
The fourth litter pick are meeting outside Salford lads and Girls Club at 11:00 am on Saturday 21st March.
The fifth takes place on Friday 27th March at 12:00 pm, meeting at Weedall Ave at Monmouth Park.
The sixth and final litter pick as part of this campaign are meeting outside Burger King on Goodiers Drive on Sunday 29th March at 11:00 am.
Further details of these litter picks can be found on the Friends of Ordsall Park Facebook page.
On 15th of November last year, a litter pick was planned and delivered throughout Islington Park, and you can read more about their ambitions here.
Keville has also said, “During litter picking we also identify issues such as fly tipping and work with local agencies like Salford Council and GMP to highlight concerns.”
Andy Salter, from Love Your Planet Salford and secretary of Friends of Ordsall Park, is also supporting this campaign and has said, “Litter picking opportunities take place all year round and we’d love to see more people get involved during the Spring Clean campaign.
Why not join the group and take part in our regular cleanups?”
