The Olivier award-winning play The Life of Pi will be coming to Salford for Christmas 2023.

The show, directed by Lolita Chakrabarti, is going on a UK tour and will appear at The Lowry Theatre between December 5 2023 to January 6 2024.

It features a life sized puppeteered Bengal Tiger, whose performers won best supporting actor in one of five Olivier awards for the production this year.

The play, based on the international best selling book by Yann Martel, tells the story of a sixteen year-old boy stranded on a raft with animals, including the tiger.

The show is currently finishing a run at Wyndham’s Theatre on the West End, and it will begin a UK and Ireland tour in August 2023

Ms Chakrabarti said: “It has been an extraordinary year in the West End and the success of the play has been both a privilege and a delight – from all the amazing awards to the standing ovations we get every night. It is testament to Yann Martel’s beautiful and moving story.”

Lowry members are able to book tickets now, with general sale opening on Monday.
