Salford Precinct has been hit by yet another closure, with the Boots store and pharmacy joining the list of casualties in recent weeks.
Joined by two further stores in Ellesmere Port and Malvern, which will be shutting later this week, the pharmaceutical company announced last week it would be permanently closing three of its 220 stores across the country.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We continually review locations to make sure they are where customers need us most and it is never a decision we take lightly when looking to close a store.”
Boots join M&S and B&Q this week in announcing closures, but how will Boots closing affect local residents, below is a map of the pharmacies closest to the recently closed store.
A local resident, Mark Schofield, 53, said that the closure of Boots was: “Bad news. People are struggling with a lot at the moment and the shop closures are one of those things.”
Alison Wilson, 61 reiterated this opinion: “It’s a bit of a disaster to be honest, the shopping center itself is baron, it’s going the same way as the high street. It’s a real shame.”
These shop closures aren’t exclusive to the Salford Precinct.
Mark Schofield continued: “You only have to go into the Lowry almost every other week places are closing. It’s a real shame, people struggle to make a living.”
