A man has died after a road traffic collision left the M62 closed in both directions overnight.
At around 12.15am on Tuesday 19 September 2023, officers were called to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the M62.
Emergency services attended the scene, and an adult male was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been taken into custody for further questioning.
The M62 between Eccles and Birchwood will be closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed through the morning while officers conduct their investigations.
A statement from GMP warned: “Alternative diversions are being put in place, please avoid the area.”
