2332: Liberal Democrats hold the seat 

Paul Heilbron (Lib Dem) – 540

Elizabeth McCoy (Labour) – 321

Andrea Jospehine Romero O’Brien (Green) – 124

985 total votes

12.3% turnout

8 ballots rejected

 


2331: Result declaration is imminent 

Returning officer Tom Stannard is taking to the podium to announce the result.

 


2251: Count is now underway 

Verification is complete. The count has now begun.

A turnout for today’s election will be confirmed in due course.

 


2236: City Mayor has arrived 

City Mayor of Salford, Paul Dennett has arrived. He’s expected to be one of many political figures here this evening.

Former GM Mayoral candidate for the Lib Dems, Simon Lepori is also in attendance.

 


2212: Candidates & agents beginning to arrive 

As we await the arrival of ballot boxes from the polling stations in the Quays ward.

Candidates & agents from each party are beginning to arrive.

 


2205: Welcome to our coverage 

We are at Salford Civic Centre this evening for the Quays ward by-election count.
The polls closed at 10pm. Verification of postal votes is underway.
We will have coverage throughout the evening.
