A Salford man has been sentenced to life imprisonment at Manchester Crown Court for four counts of rape of a female under 16.
Fourty-eight-year-old Christopher Kofi Taylor, of Dorothy Street, Salford, will serve a minimum of 11 years and four months in prison. He was also charged for trespassing with intent to commit a sexual offence, and Section 47 assault after pleading guilty.
Officers were called to an address in Greater Manchester just after 6am on Monday 23 August 2021, after reports that a 15-year-old had been attacked in an isolated incident.
Detective Constable Emma Bentley from Greater Manchester Police said: “Taylor’s treatment of a vulnerable young female was shocking and deplorable. Predatory behaviour like this should never be tolerated and eradicating it is a top priority.
“Her courage to come forward and give evidence has enabled us to pursue this prosecution. Though these offences have a lasting impact on victims, it is my hope this result provides some sense of closure.”
Greater Manchester Police have urged victims of rape and sexual assault not to “suffer in silence.” The GMP stated: “If you or someone you know has been a victim of rape or sexual assault we encourage you and report it to the police by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.”
