Salford City

This Saturday (April 20), The Ammies travel to Wales to play Newport County in a League Two match.

Whilst the season comes to an end, the club can only look at the year with disappointment. After loosing four consecutive matches, Salford sit 20th in the league.

Last weekends defeat to Bradford City saw The Ammies loose 2-1 at The Peninsula Stadium.

Despite avoiding relegation, the team will hope to win their last two games to bring some confidence to next years campaign.

Salford City boss, Karl Robinson said: “I think we deserved everything we got today.

“You’ve done it because you’ve won more games before today than today.

“Even though today the other results have gone for us, it’s the work we’ve done in the build up to this.

“We’ve accumulated a lot of points in that period of time from a team that was struggling, we fell back into them habits at times, we looked very, very average.”

Their next fixture sees them face Newport County, who sit 16th in the division.

They have lost their last six games, most recently to Tranmere Rovers 2-1 at their home ground.

As a result, this game is a battle between two sides trying to give their fans one last hurrah.

The fans need to see improvements and more importantly results come their way.

Karl Robinson added: “I’ve seen most of the teams at this level, I’ve a better idea of what it takes and seeing certain aspects where we lost battles and we lose shape and do things that are completely unacceptable if you want to win games.

“We’ve got to win a lot of games, and if you want to win games you’ve got to win individual battles, that’s got to be a given.

“Athleticism, pace and power, it’s something that we’ve got to find.”

Tickets for the away fixture at Newport are available here.
