Post Office branches based on Rossall Way - Google Map

Salford MP Rebecca Long Bailey has shared an update with residents regarding the local Post Office branch.

The update follows the decision made on Tuesday 12 November, proposing that the postal service which looked to offload 115 directly owned Crown Post Offices, which employ approximately 1,000 people.

However, the new update from Rebecca Long Bailey MP shared that the branch would continue to “operate from its current premises.”

The branch will aim to provide the same services but under the management of an independent franchise retail partner – FirstClass Managerial LTD (First Class Retail).

Rebecca Long Bailey MP said: “Following on from my letters to Government Ministers and the Post Office’s CEO raising concerns about proposal to close Salford City’s Post Office and campaigning from your local Councillors and myself, and update has now been provided.”

However, following the Crown Post Office update, the Salford MP shared her concerns with the branch being operated under a franchising model.

She said: “My concerns about the franchising model being used remains but I am relieved, as I’m sure residents and staff are, that the Post Office will remain open in its current location.”

Rebecca Long Baily MP continued: “The Post Office have asked for your views about their plans. Please note that your comments will not be kept confidential unless you expressly ask them to do so by clearly marking them “In Confidence”.”

The opportunity for Salford residents to share their views opened today (Wednesday 4 June), until Thursday 30 September – which can be found here.
