The University of Salford has become the first in the UK to receive “prestigious” employer-led accreditation, with its Business Management Degree recognised for the programme’s excellence in preparing students for the challenging demands of industry.

Tech Industry Gold (TIG) accreditation, awarded by Techskills, provides formal recognition for high-quality pathways to employment in digital and tech roles.

It is the only employer-led accreditation for tech-related education, governed by a panel of industry leaders for major employers, including IBM. It benchmarks courses against high standards for employability, technical skills, and real-world relevance.

A TIG accreditation distinguishes a programme for its quality and relevance to industry, and following rigorous employer-led review, the University of Salford’s Business IT degree has also been awarded the respected certification.

This signifies that students enrolled on the accredited programmes will gain industry-valued digital credentials and access to enhanced employer-led enrichment, including live projects, guest lectures, and networking with leading businesses.

Dr Maria Kutar, Director of Undergraduate Business at Salford Business School, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be the first Business Management programme in the UK to achieve this level of recognition. It’s a testament to the strength of our curriculum and how we prepare students for the changing demands of industry.”

Lorna Willis, CEO of TechSkills, added: “Achieving Tech Industry Gold status is a prestigious milestone, earned through a rigorous, employer-led process that demands excellence across the board.

“We’re excited to continue partnering with the University of Salford, helping their learners thrive in the tech-driven business landscape.”
