Swinton Moorside Cricket Club

Swinton Moorside Cricket Club have launched a crowdfunding page to help refurbish their outdoor nets, improving the play of the junior teams.

The goal is to raise £2,000 to repair the nets, to not only improve the play of the teams but to keep everyone safe.

Club spokesperson Lol Duffy said: “It could be quite dangerous if you’re not careful because obviously if there’s holes in the nets the ball can go through.”

So Swinton have started a crowdfunder to help with these maintenance costs.

Crowdfund Salford has pledged to match every donation.

Lol said: “For all the children, playing cricket there is very, very important.”

Swinton Moorside Cricket club were established in 1890 and have both senior and junior teams, meaning all ages can learn and play cricket at the club.

So far, the club have raised £925 and have 69 days left to meet the goal.

“There’s quite a lot of support for us,” said Lol.
